I was most pleased with the software consultation they provided - they offered me excellent advice and assistance at a price within my budget.
John Meneely
Owner

Vision: CardSmart in Washington, PA used an old point-of-sale application that was no longer supported. It managed inventory well, and the owner, John, wanted to continue using it until the end of the year when the store would be closing.

Problem: John did not feel comfortable having a product that had no support package. He was afraid of losing his data and did not want to invest in a new program to get through the end of the year.

Solution: Ethix Systems helped CardSmart put a backup plan into place, ensuring that critical data would be recoverable. This allowed the business to continue using the existing system until the store closed without incurring a significant investment.

Showcasing project information on a website is a great way to demonstrate the work that you do to a large audience. However, as these bodies of work grow, it becomes hard to manage them on a single page. Conveying enough information about your projects without sacrificing presentation can be difficult.
Technologies like Adobe Flash can help bring your projects to life and use space more effectively than just HTML would. However, developers for these technologies are very hard to find and are usually expensive to contract.
This is where the power of a Lightbox comes in. A Lightbox is like a popup that works inside of the main browser window. It hides the existing page behind a new smaller box that shows more detailed information about what the user clicked. It uses Javascript, so it is easier and less expensive to implement than Flash, but it still looks very sleek and can work with any design seamlessly.
Our favorite Lightbox is called Lightbox 2; it delivers the best presentation, but it is limited to the use of images with a short caption only. We have found two other lightbox packages (Thickbox, and Slightly Thickerbox) that allow HTML content as well, and have made use of these on the Portfolio and Newsletter pages of our recently redesigned website. Check them out!
