Find Customer Data Faster Metaphone Search Project Spotlight Dealers Supply Company
Ethix wowed me with the website that they built for our company. Not only is it easy to use, but they linked it to our existing inventory database so we don't need to manually enter the information twice and it is easily maintained. Thus far, the project has been a big success.

Vision: Dealer's Supply Company was formed as a buying group for a number of lumber and building supply dealers. They have over 200 members, allowing for greater purchasing power and reduced costs for supplies.

Problem: Dealers Supply had no easy way of distributing the pricing on materials to its members, since prices change somewhat regularly.

Solution: Ethix Systems built a web application that allows members to log in and view prices live from Dealers Supply's internal inventory program. Members can search for products, see information about them, and download a pdf of the pricing list.

Have you ever needed to look up someone's phone number but didn't know how to spell their name? There are so many variations on how a name is spelled, that often just hearing it isn't enough to find someone's information in a program quickly and accurately. In many situations, spending precious time determining if someone's last name is Smith or Smyth, Sherman or Sheuermann, or Kryshinski or Creshinsky can cause bottlenecks in business operations.
There is, however, a very under-utilized technology available that allows you to search for names by sound. Instead of asking someone for the exact spelling of their name, or even guessing it, you can search for what the name sounds like, finding results you may have missed otherwise. The technical term for this sound search is called a metaphone search; it compares two words to see if they sound the same in the English language. Implementing this technology in the right setting can make searching far more effective than traditional means.
This technology is useful in almost any business setting where you have a sales or support team interacting with customers. The more quickly you can address your customers' issues or follow-up on sales leads, the more reputable your company becomes and the more time your employees save in doing day-to-day operations. A specific industry where this would be especially helpful would be the medical field where, when working with a patient's health history, timeliness is everything.
Try out our demo and see if you can find the person who left you a muddled voicemail after business hours. Without a metaphone, there's a good chance you would lose this sale.
